The Factor 10 Institute (Austria)

The Factor 10 Institute (Austria) is a non-profit association in the field of applied environmental research and promotes a sustainable development of environment, economy and society. Aim is to publicize results of environmental research, in particular concerning topics like Factor 10 (dematerialisation) and Resource Efficiency (Eco Efficiency), and to transfer such results into practice.

For that the Institute elaborates suitable scientific concepts and pursues application-oriented research in the form of pilot projects.

The Institute is non-profit oriented and finances itself from entry fees and membership dues, subsidies by local, federal or international institutions as well as by expense allowances.

The Institute sets up the following priorities for its work:

- National and international networking.
- Organizing events and meetings, public relations.
- Developing scientific concepts for a trade fair and an internet database in the fields of
  Resource Efficiency (Eco Efficiency) and Factor 10.
- Developing scientific concepts for the supply and maintenance of data for Resource Efficiency
  -Factors (Eco Efficiency-Factors) of different matrials ("MIPS-Factors").
- Elaborating scientific concepts for education programs as well as consulting programs in the fields
  of Resource Efficiency (Eco Efficiency) and Factor 10.

The results of work of the Factor 10 Institute are presented to the public in suitable form and shall raise the public awareness for the significance of handling carefully the environment and change the behavior using products, services and procedures that support sustainable development.
