The Factor 10 Institute (Austria) was founded in 1997 under the name "Society Factor 4+" as a non-profit association.

In the general assembly of 04/03/2002 its members decided to rename the association into "Factor 10 Institute (Austria)".

The headquarter of the Factor 10 Institute (Austria) is located in the city of Vienna. The Factor 10 Institute Austria cooperates closely with Factor 10 Institute in France (Friedrich Schmidt-Bleek) and with the international Factor 10 Innovation Network.
